2nd Annual Prospect Animal Hospital

Dog & Cat 2014 Halloween Costume Photos Contest Entries

Congratulations to Cody and Sophie for winning the 2nd Annual Halloween Pet Costume Contest. We wanted to thank everyone for being a part of it. We look forward to seeing all of you enter next year.

Voting has ended.

Sophie (2014 CAT CATEGORY WINNER)

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

This is Sophie, she's 3 years old. We rescued her at a Boston shelter back in January. You wouldn't know it now but she started life out rough coming from a hoarding situation where animals were stacked in cages. Now she's the queen of the house and the most outgoing affectionate girl anyone could ask for. She runs around all day collecting head bunks from everyone. We're so lucky we found each other.

She will only eat tuna treats and tuna flavored food, so when we started posting pictures of her online it seemed fitting to give her the Instagram handle "sophielovestuna". So coming up with the costume of a cute bee worked well since she's always buzzing around the house looking to play and if that wasn't enough, "Did you say Bumble Bee Tuna?" If you did, she came running! This entire costume including hive is homemade.

Coby (2014 DOG CATEGORY WINNER)

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

Shiver me timbers! It’s Cody, the scurvy seadog! He is the best dressed buccaneer on the sea. He loves burying treasure and digging it up (along with our tulip bulbs). He may look cute now, but beware! If you touch his booty of bones he will make you walk the plank!

Peggy Sue

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

Peggy Sue is nine years young.

She is a mix between a poodle and Lhasa Apso.

Called a Lhasa Poo.

I bought her costume a few years ago.
I think she feels humiliated wearing it?

Mr. Hairy Pawter

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

This is Mr. Hairy Pawter!  He is a "Sharp Dressed Dog"!  The limo comes complete with Hairy in a tuxedo and top hat, champagne, glasses, roses, working bubble machine and speakers that play "Sharp Dressed Man"!

Little 3.5lb Hairy is a service dog and a therapy dog.  He goes to children's hospitals and senior homes bringing so many people happiness!

Mochi

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

I am a special education teacher and my students all love the Disney movie Frozen. I decided to make the costume of Olaf from the movie. When I put it on Mochi, he immediately gave me a look like "I want to take it off". He does not like to wear clothing! He is full of energy and as soon as he took the costume off he ran around the house like a maniac!

Baby

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

Say hello to Baby, who is a good witch for Halloween this year.  Baby is a poodle who is 11 years old.  She loves people and loves to be noticed.  Her favorite thing to do is ride on our mule and feed our animals on the farm.

Sadie

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

Sadie is a 2 year old Cockapoo with a very spunky personality. She loves cuddling, playing with her toys and dressing up for the holidays. Cinderella is Sadie’s favorite Disney Princess, so we she wanted to dress as her for Halloween.

Echo

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

Echo is a 10 year old Boston Terrier that is pretty well known for her handmade costumes and has been all over the internet. This is her last year dressing up and competing so we wanted to wow her fans!

What better way then as Maleficent? Maleficent is hot this year and we really wanted to come up with something that no one has seen for a dog costume.

Her horns are crafted from bonsai wire and electrical tape. They then were inserted into the Maleficent headpiece. To secure the headpiece, there is a clip and elastic under her chin. The headpiece has batting inside for comfort.

Her costume is made of snakeskin denim and scaly suede with black satin accents. Her cape has a dual winged collar, a cord necktie and is trimmed in ribbon.

Her staff is a plastic tube colvered in snakeskin denim. For the orb, a large marble is used. To create the decorative mount, some of the suede from her costume is cut into a diamond shape and attached with hot glue.

To create the eerie green glow of Maleficent's fireplace, a piece of neon green acrylic, backlit with part of a lamp was placed in our fireplace.

Also, Maleficent can't be without her pet, raven!

Hope you enjoyed our last Halloween creation for Echo!

Clyde

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

Clyde is dressed as a Southern Belle. Clyde is very sweet and well mannered. He also loves attention and posing for the camera. So, this was the the perfect costume to fit his personality! The photo is attached. Thanks and have a nice day!

Wylie

All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.

Wylie is a 9 year old schnoodle. Our kids felt the bat costume is appropriate for her this year since she is a stealth stalker of squirrels and even at her age she can still fly through the air to try to capture them.

Early Entries between Oct. 1st-Oct. 13th will be updated on this page.

Then enter the 2nd Annual Prospect Animal Hospital Dog & Cat Halloween Photo Contest. The dog and cat that receive the most "LIKES" on Facebook will win a trick or treat gift basket.

We will post all accepted entries to be voted on Oct. 14th on our Prospect Animal Hospital Facebook Fan Page. All entries must be received to us by 5 PM October 21st, 2014.  Voting will end on October 31st and the winner will be announced on November 3rd. Winners will be notified via phone and will be announced on Prospect Animal Hospital's website and Facebook Fan Page.
